Featuring: Delia Baseman, Maya Boudreau, Greg Hardigan, Franette Liebow, Amanda Reader, Mike Tepeli
Fragile! explores the ways an ex-Yugoslavian immigrant survives in
contemporary London. Mila and Marko, a Croat and a Serb, share a flat
together, as well as working shifts in a seedy club owned by a shady,
but warm-hearted, Bulgarian. It is a darkly humorous play about the
people behind the tabloid stories of migrant workers and forced
prostitution in today’s Europe.
2:00 pm: Carbon Copy by Dusko Premovic (2009, Serbia), Directed by TUTA Artistic Director Zeljko Djukic
Featuring: Kate Cares, Deirdre Hamilton, and Steve Key
Carbon Copy ("Indigo" in Serbian) is a funny and moving play. In the first act, two women go through a lot of turmoil before they discover friendship and ways to empower, inspire, and change each other. In the second act, an unexpected suitor appears and convinces one of the women that he is the man of her dreams.
4:00 pm: Canary Soup by Milos Radovic (1999, Serbia), Directed by Company Member Jacqueline Stone
Featuring: Peter DeFaria and Nicole Wiesner
It's the day of the wedding and Yelena and Mihailo are still figuring out if they'd like to actually get married. Through this comedic journey of life's mishaps and good fortunes, Canary Soup explores the many paths one possible life can take and how we love and lose those most important to us.
Closing party to follow featuring guitarists Nikola Dokic and Robert Palos from the Eyes Manouche, the Chicago based band known for playing gypsy Balkan dance music.
